My cats occasionally sleep on the foot of the bed, the dog used to but she's so big now she prefers to stretch out on the floor by the side. If the fur is a problem then I'd say it's best if she tries to get them out of the habit.

Default POLL - Is it healthy to sleep with your cat in bed?
My cat very often comes to my bed and sleeps close to me (and my face). I loved this, cause he made me fall asleep faster and he was calming me while pouring.
But lately, in the morning, I started to feel like I am choking, and I think is from the fur.

What are your experiences ? Do you think is safe to sleep with your cat in bed?

My cat sleep with me in my bed and I do no have a choice for it. Lol
He had a "cat door" so he could come in and come out anytime. And even I will try to not allow him to sleep with me, I will make with him lying beside me or on top of the blanket.

If you're having issues breathing, then not so much. You may want to encourage your cat to sleep lower down your body (like on your belly or something) just so you don't wake up with a face full of hair.

I'm always more concerned with hurting -them-, not myself. I'm afraid I'll roll over in the middle of the night and hurt them.

Of course it is, providing you're not allergic to cats, or fur Mine sleeps with me all the time.

It's okay as long as he or she doesn't sleep to close to your face. I think their fur can be very disruptive to our breathing, and I really don't want to wake up choking on a hairball! I also think prolonged breathing in of their fur may cause asthma, but I'm not a doctor, just guessing.

Well, it's not "healthy", but it isn't unhealthy either if you can handle it. Some people have mild to severe allergies when around cats and other pets. They may have problems breathing, their eyes may water or they may feel symptoms similar of a cold. When I slept with my cat I used to get really bad pink eye. I'm not sure if I was slightly allergic or if I just had a dirty cat. If you are feeling like you are "chocking" it could be just excess hair. Try brushing your cat just before you go to bed to loosen up the fur.

My cat sleeps in my bed all the time. Usually i fall asleep and she crawls under my arm or over my legs and falls asleep. It doesn't bother me at all, for me it would be weird if she doesn't sleep near me . Sometimes i have found her sleeping on by belly or even under my armpit.

I wouldnt think it much different to having a dog in the bed, my mum has 2 dogs that moult all year round and they sleep in the bed.

Our cat isnt allowed upstairs as we have a baby who is still in a Moses basket so it would be very dangerous if she decided to jump in beside baby.

Other than that, I dont see an issue with it x

As long as a person doesn't have allergies, I think that it is perfectly safe to sleep with your cat in bed. When I had cats, they slept with me. I love how they snuggle with you (just like a little kid) and I love how they keep you warm at night. If you are waking up feeling like you are choking, maybe you can try to keep them down by your feet.

I don't think I'd be comfortable personally to have a cat sleep in my bed with me. At best I let Jens cat snooze on the bed when no ones on it (and the beds made) during the day sometimes. But generally try to keep her off the bed as I think I may have a light allergy to cat fur.
