Default Brags, brags, brags! :D (long)
So first off - I want to let yall know how much I FAIL. I forgot my camera and the memory card from the big, fancy camera I use at hunts in Bukra's breeder's car So no pictures until at least next weekend, probably early next week. I'm at a total loss with nothing to edit :-/

So, I figured I would at least post the hunt results AND go on and on about how amazing my pup is

Hunt results! Saturday was a Saluki breed hunt and Bukra took 3rd. He was off all day... it was cold, INCREDIBLY windy, and he hasn't had proper runs in weeks - so he was cold and not as well conditioned as he could have been But still, 3rd is awesome and I'm so proud of him for his efforts! He had two really nice, long courses that gave him some good conditioning.

Sunday was a mixed hunt with Salukis, Greyhounds, and Whippets. Bukra drew a course with two other salukis, and made a kill! By the end of the day, he was 2nd overall/High Score Saluki. What was neat was that the 1st place dog was a Whippet who is owned by the man who judged our hunt on Saturday... as he was accepting his ribbon, he said if he'd judged THIS hunt - he'd have given my dog 1st and his dog 2nd It was a huge compliment to my dog, coming from an "old time" racer/hunter/breeder with decades of experience! I really expected Bukra not to do much this day, because he seemed so off the day before... but he really picked it up! He amazes me every time we go out there... I've competed with dogs before, but I've never had a dog whose name everyone knows and who has done SO damn well! I am flabbergasted every time we do ribbons and he places... That's my dog! Man, he's amazing!

Because of some issues, Zealand had to come to the hunt with us this weekend. I'll admit - I was pretty frustrated with the idea, and was worried he was going to make things incredibly difficult and ruin the whole weekend I know that sounds mean - but on hunt weekends, especially when we're hunting both days, we have no spare time... we go straight to bed when we get down there, wake up incredibly early, go straight out to hunt, come straight back, eat, and go to bed... rinse and repeat! There's really no room for catering to a puppy, ya know?

But it turned out just fine, because Ze didn't act a single bit like a puppy! Despite lack of exercise, he was incredibly well behaved! He took everything in stride, made friends with everyone at the hunt (even got on the good side of a dog or two), and really impressed everyone with his adaptability There wasn't a single moment where he made it difficult for him to be there... one of my biggest worries was bedtime, because a hyper puppy with not enough exercise is usually trouble when you're trying to go to bed... but nope! Despite being really hyper and wanting to play, he'd curl right up and go to sleep He rode loose in the vehicle for the first time, and was perfect! He curled up at my feet on the floor, and didn't bother us at all when we'd get fast food (and didn't even look at the bag we put the garbage from it in, which was next to him until we tossed it out!). I mean, really.. who doesn't expect at least ONE mishap when traveling long distance for a weekend-long trip with a 15 week old puppy? It's pretty easy to figure there will be some bumps/issues/learning curves... but I'll be damned if he didn't act like we'd done this a million times before! Seriously, could he be any more perfect?

It astounds me to be in the company of such phenomenal dogs.. I'm not religious, but if I was, I'd say something like "I'm truly blessed" because I'm incredibly lucky to have them!!

I was wondering what happened to you.

Good going Bukra, I do hope he does much better on his next run. Gosh I'd love to see a hunt some day. Have you ever recorded a hunt?.

And good boy Zi!. You do seem blessed with this pup. I can't wait to see what he's like when he's older.

Shame you didn't get any photo's but sometimes people forget things.

Grats to everything, Teal! Looks like little Zee is on the right track to becoming a well adjusted pup and congrats to Bukra too!
