Default What physique do you prefer on a pitbull?
What physique do you prefer on a pitbull?

Do you go for strongman physique? All bulky but not so agile nor fast

or do you go for a sprinters physique? lighweight, agile and moderatly musceled.

by pitbull I also mean AST.
I personally prefer sprinter physique as I find it better looking and healthier.

Here where I live most AST are severly overweight (IMO), and their owners are proud that they have 40kg AST

I'll refer to the ADBA standard:
Above all, the American Pit Bull Terrier should appear to be an all around athlete. His body is called upon for speed, power, agility and stamina. He must be balanced in all directions. Too much of one thing, robs him of another. In his ideal form, he is
a thing of beauty.
Not light enough that he does not have power. Not heavy enough that his agility is affected.

For an Amstaff, I agree with you, I don't like the fat dogs at all. I don't mind a little "bulk", and I don't expect them to look like an ADBA APBT.

Generally speaking, I just like a dog that's a good weight, and in good condition. They don't have to be ripped, just not look like walking table tops! This is an athletic breed, they should be able to go run around for an hour without dropping over.

I Love the slimmer, athletic look too. Georgia is a superb athlete, and just the shape and size I like. I can't stand the squat, muscle-bound meat heads!

I went with sprinter since that's closest to what I need. I need a dog with some leg under him and stamina enough to do it's job. The blocky shorter types will play out and overheat more often.

Definitely sprinter. I don't like the way the big bulky ones look. They just look weird and unnatural to me.

I have always thought your dog is gorgeous! I'm not a fan of cropped ears, but those are just right!

long neck, dense bones (especially the forearms), large rear, no barrel chest, strong jaws, correct stifle, curved back and i also prefer a long, lean, tall dog.

Thanks

For the record, I would never have cropped his ears but he was a rescue at about 10 months old and they were already done. I would have preferred natural ears. Who ever did them did do a good job though.

I like that bitch!
the woman in the video isn't too bad either

I like em muscular, but not too thin.
I also like a NICE looking amstaff. middle of the road, not fat but not ADBA style either
