Default New personal best...
Rigby set a new record just now with the toy she got for graduating beginner's obedience...

A whole 10 seconds. Seriously. Within ten seconds she had ripped it open and began pulling out the stuffing. I had to take it away, and now she is pouting on the floor. Apparently her Nylabones and antlers aren't good enough anymore. She wants plush with squeakers to destroy, dagnabit!

In related news, now accepting donations of dog toys...

Caesar and Jezebel are the only two dogs that do not kill stuffies at my house.

Sounds like the time I got my dog a basketball. The thing was poped in one bite and in pieces a minute later. If your dog likes softer toys get a black goughnut. It's the only thing my dog hasn't destroyed. They're a little expensive but are super super tough and come with a lifetime warranty. It's the best toy I've ever bought hands down!

yeah, mine also like to savage stuffed toys. Ike got his graduation present from his trainer and it was dead within seconds. But at least he had fun for those seconds!

Glad I'm not the only one.

I was just telling a friend, I can afford to feed her and take her to the vet, but I don't know if I can afford to entertain her.

Rigby won't touch a Kong...drives me crazy, since I have about 5 from my old dog. Even stuffed.

Starvplays with it for 5 mins then he's done. He's got teeth marks all over it but I guess he gets bored of it since it's harder to chew through it. I thought pit bulls didn't stop until the job was done but I guess it's his nix kicking in. He still has a puppy face IMO. Maybe

For some reason, my dogs love killing empty toliet paper rolls and paper towel rolls. I can give them one apiece and they are happy killing that for a few minutes.

I am guessing it is the squeak the dog is loving and the kong is lacking.

Kong and toys like that play into the dog's instinct from wolf times of how good it is to chew and bite thick bones and gnaw out the calorie and nutrient rich bone marrow.

Squeak toys play into the dog's instinct from the wolf times of the death squeal of small critters, so part of the 'play' is repeatedly delivering kill-bites which when done by a powerful dog results in destruction.

Not all dogs are equally tuned in to the the 'wolf time instinct' and hence may have toy preferences.

The GOOD thing is you can most likely remove the squeaker from the destroyed toy and find that it still works, and can be reinserted into a small stuffed animal, a sock stuffed with rags and sewn shut, or all sorts of other stuff.

I get stuffed toys strictly for the purpose of seeing Lucy's eyes light up in a devilish fashion, before she decapitates and shreds the fucker.

The other two aren't big on toy destruction, but Dumbass will help Lucy tug of war a stuffed toy in half now and then.

Opie has to rip apart every toy he has. He'll let rope toys live a little longer, but as soon as he gets bored, he starts the destruction.

Peyton is the same way!! He LOVES them. He also enjoys destorying cardboard boxes/cases that soda or beer comes in or old cereal boxes etc. Something about them drive him up a wall, he gets SERIOUS zoomies and flys around the house flinging boxes apart. It's fun to watch but a pain to clean up later, LOL.
