Default grrr.... idiot owners!
just needed to vent today:

so last night, coming home to my apt from a birthday shindig at 11pm, a little black tricoloured chihuahua darts out in front of my car barking up a storm before running back to the curb. i pull over and open my door, calling to it. thing is growling and barking and running from one side of the road/parking lot to the other. another car comes flying around the corner and almost takes it out. *sigh* at this point i park, go upstairs, grab a dog bowl and some kibble and go back to try and see if the dog has any ID.

I see it in the grass, peeing and kicking it's back legs. I slowly approach on my haunches. it's running around, growling and barking. so i sit and play the waiting game. tossing out some kibble, over the next 30-45 min it slowly comes close. i get it to eat from my hand. i see it has a collar but, guess what? NO TAGS. it's an unspayed female (big vuh-jay-jay and nipples that look like they've seen a litter or two), but her coat is clean and she's well fed. But though she would eat from my hand, she wouldn't get closer than 12" from me. and any sudden move/noise and she began fear snapping. so i didn't push my luck by trying to grab her or touch her in any other way.

after the kibble's gone, little bit trots off, and begins going back towards the parking lot. it's hot at night, muggy, and she was panting, so... trying to ease my concience before i go to bed, i go upstairs again, get some water in the bowl, and come back down.

i find her in the parking lot AGAIN, just laying down. ugh! i coax her onto the sidewalk and she drinks. then she runs off to one of the buildings, i follow, and see her pacing a hallway, sniffing at doors. after another 15-20 mins, where she's drinking some water and sniffing at doors, she scratches and whines at one. sure enough, the door's opened a few min later and before it closes i say loudly: "oh good! she does have a home!"

scared the crap out of the guy since i wasn't in his line of vision. he sticks his head out of the door and goes: "i'm sorry?"

me: "she was in the street and i almost ran over her, as well as a few other cars. i've been using food and water to try and get her so i could find where she lives"

him: "oh yeah, i thought she'd come in with the others. i didn't notice she was gone."

me: "oh. well, she didn't have any tags but i'm glad she found her way home." *HINT HINT*

him: "yeah. ok." closes door.

GRRRRR... IDIOT!!! no thank you, no concern for the close call of death his dog had, nada!

i'm sorry, A) he shouldn't just 'let the dogs out' to come back in - it's an APARTMENT complex, not a private yard fenced in. you need to TAKE your dogs on leash to potty and pick up after them. & B) if you can't notice when a dog doesn't come back, you obviously have more dogs than you can handle.

so i went home tired, sticky, hot, covered in mosquito & ant bites from my hour in the grass and pissed off.

idiots like that shouldn't own a dog.
