Whew... my heart is totally racing! I just put Deeohgee on the tie up. The cable comes into the house under the door so I hook them up inside and just open the door and let them out. Our kennel is to the right of my door and the door to it was open and Deeohgee whips into the kennel like a flash and I just got a glimpse of black and YELL for her to LEAVE IT! A little black and white cat is in the kennel in panic mode but can't find the door so it's running and running in circles, throwing itself at the sides of the kennel until it finally climbs up it and takes off! I gave huge praise to Deeohgee for listening to my LEAVE IT especially since she was in prey drive mode. Gaud.. I'm glad she is so obedient even when in drive. Tank would have already been shakin' the crap out of that cat. I was actually going to let him out but he looked so comfy all snoozing I let her out instead. That is one damn lucky cat! Just an eye opener for people who let their cats out... a prime example of how dumb they can be and how quickly they can get hurt! That cat's always cruisin' around here and knows we have dogs. Keep your kitties inside if you can so they don't end up in a dog mouth!

Good Girl Deeohgee!!
When we first put our fence up; a neighborhood cat kept coming around just to aggravate Veronica. It seems the cat knew she couldn't get to it, so it would come practically up to the fence and stare at her and wave it's tail in the air... one day Veronica charged the fence, and hit the gate "just so", so that both the latches popped and off she went after the cat. She was on "Grammy Daycare time" and luckily Grammy thought to run into the house and grab a fully cooked chicken breast...then she chased Veronica down across the street and into the neighbor's yard...where Thank God no cats were harmed and Veronica was lured back home with the chicken breast. We bought some chain and padlock that night to secure the gates...so luckily that was Veronica's one and only free range experience to date. The cat has not been hanging around quite so much since then. |

Oh! My son and I were trying to figure out what the heck you were saying and I thought it was something about OCD which would have suited the topic as well as Deeohgee is TOTALLY OCD!
Ya.. her name is kinda like you were spelling dog. D.O.G. hence.. Dee-oh-gee, but it's all kinda blended when you are saying it so it's not so choppy sounding as if you were spelling the word dog. Don't blame me.. I didn't name her! She was an owner surrender at seven months old or so and it took me a bit to clue into what the heck the guy was calling her. When she was adopted, they changed her name to Whiskey, but I don't know... as much as I hate her name, she will always be Deeohgee to me. When I got her back, and called out to her with her original name, even after three years of being called something else, she came runnin'! lol |

Keep your kitties inside if you can so they don't end up in a dog mouth! I'm glad your dog was responsive enough that this didn't get ugly, but at the same time I have no pity on people who lose their pet through their own negligent behavior. I feel bad for the pet but as to the owners my emotions tend more towards the "let us see how they would feel if what happened to their pet happened to them" range. Allowing a pet to roam free AND unsupervised should warrant jail time. I don't mind people that let their pets out off leash when I know them, I know their pet, they are standing right there watching their pet, and they have control of their pet. I don't care how cold it is, how wet it is, how uncomfortable it makes things, or how inconvenient the timing is, if the owner lets their pet out unattended (with no kennel, tie-out, other means of containing/controlling the pet) then they have no business having a pet. |
