what do you guys think of these?? i cant help but feel a little sorry for the poodles, althogh some of them do look very "artistic". i guess it depends if you have a dog that doesnt mind getting laughed at...i wonder if they use permanent dye or what. http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/325816.../?beginSlide=1

ive never known a dog to be able to feel humiliation which i think is a blessing for these guys.. some of it i can see from an art point of view( i like the snail one).. but others are just weird..
but its no worse than the people who paint their cats and call it art... people are weird.. thats all there is to it and so long as it doesnt harm the animal im okay with it |

Friday Fun: Does This Count as Animal Cruelty?
BY Cliff KuangFri Aug 28, 2009 at 2:30 PM Ren Netherland documents the crazy hair-dos that poodle owners inflict upon their pets. If you've got a dog, you've probably thought to dress him up in a costume. You've got nothing on these poodle owners, documented by photographer Ren Netherland. As the Telegraph reports, every year Netherland logs thousands of miles, documenting the insane transformations that occur in poodle-grooming competitions. Apparently, he's the only dog photographer entrusted with the task by the show organizers. The results have to be seen to be believed: Wonder what this guy things about Ben Roethlisberger: Peacocks do it all for the ladies: Camels are miracles of natural selection, able to traverse long miles in the desert by storing water in their humps: After being hunted nearly to extinction, buffalo have made a comeback: Johnny Depp really should have won an Oscar for his Keith Richards--inspired performance as Captain Jack Sparrow, in Pirates of the Caribbean: [Via The Telegraph and My Modern Met, which has more pictures] Friday Fun: Does This Count as Animal Cruelty? | Design & Innovation | Fast Company |

LOL I saw this on TV!!
Some of the groomers are really talented to pull off some of these looks. Those dogs in the pics really look like a bison and a camel. The peacock one is really cool too. I don't think it should be seen as cruelty since it's just special competitions. I don't think the poodles and other fluffy dogs care too much It doesn't seem any more strange than the other countless "official styles" of cuts for poodles. ---------- Post added at 05:06 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:05 PM ---------- omg the boots on the Johnny Depp dog are so cute! |

I've always thought these competitions were kind of neat to be honest. It isn't hurting the dog, just trimming an dying with something safe for animals and then they get shaved down until the next time. With all that fluffy fur I'd think it'd be nice to have some gone once in a while. |
