This past Friday I took in 3 orphaned pups. Seems there was a GSD mix & a Pit Bull roaming a cemetary & neighbors complained to AC. They brought traps & caught the GSD mix. She had a litter of hidden puppies but AC didn't find them. Someone walking in the area the next day heard them crying & found their hiding spot. She brought them to a vet, who in turned called the rescue I foster for.
The pups are roughly 4 weeks old judging by the fact that their teeth are just starting to show. Hard to tell breed so not sure if the Pit Bull is Dad. Wasn't sure how my dogs would react because we've never had tiny babies in the house before. We set them up in an old playpen & Tyler, my almost 2 year old Pit Bull has decided to take care of them. He jumps in their playpen & washes them & nuzzles them. He stands outside the playpen & play bows & seems confused that they won't chase him. When they are crated, when we are going out or cleaning the playpen he won't stop checking on them. Anybody else heard of a male doing this ? It's just so sweet. Here is a pic of him with "his babies". |
