Why do they love the taste of cat poo??? lol, I think it's just preference... I have one cat that will not ever drink from anything except the toilet, even though they get fresh water every day and I wash out their water bowl with soap & warm water. Mollie, however, never drinks from the toilet... and she gets ice from the ice maker put in her bowl when it's hot outside.

OMG-doesnt that stink??I mean IDix sleeps with us, and she gets up a few times a night. I noticed a "ring" of white hair on the toilet seat, and hair floating on the water. I mean like a ton of white hair on the seat.

She gets up at night and drink outta the toilet.

Strange-

George, I have well water.... as far as I know, the only chemicals, would be ones I add to the water, which are none.. But I'm interested in why they would be attracted to the chemicals in the toilet water.

Michele.... get JC a stool!!

My theory is it's much colder than what's in their bowl.

I was not saying they are trying to get the chemicals. I am saying I think they don't want the chlorine that is put into the tap water. Th longer the water sits the more chlorine that is out of the water.

I got the idea from fish tanks, they tell you to leave the water sit for 24 hours to let the chlorine come out of the water. I am sure the dogs can smell it if I can. Once you flush your toilette the water that comes in is water that has been sitting in the tank for how ever long.
Gotcha . Well, Mollie is above the toilet... I just keep waiting for the kitten to flush himself down, or Mollie to come in and flush him down.

That's my thought as well. And the fact that it cycles quite a bit more than most of your water dishes it sounds like. I change the water in Lola's dish almost every time I go into that room, when I don't change it as frequently... like if I let it sit all day is the only time she will drink out of the toilet.

My cat is the same way.

An absolute must in my house. Nothing worse than going to the bathroom in the middle of the night, half asleep, right after a Great Dane just got done slurping from the toilet. What a mess. LOL
