Good Dog Vet?

Okay, I have a car and can drive my dog to vet appointments. I need a good vet recommendation, preferably within a 20 minute drive from Manayunk and I don't care if it is in the city or 'burbs.

I selected my current dog vet on the recommendation of my excellent cat vet (Dr. Guth at Caring for Cats).

I feel like this is the second worst vet I've ever seen.

They're a little over 20 minutes away, and a bit pricey, but the vet I still goto Steinbach in Blue Bell is great. Take Ridge out to Butler in Conshy to 73. They're open at night so you can schedule 7pm appts to get there in time.

look no further: Dr. Carrie Sutor at Gladwyne Animal Hospital

Gladwyne Animal Hospital

she is absolutely wonderful and has taken care of both of my dogs for years.

and gladwyne is relatively close to manayunk!

I vote for Queen Village Animal Hospital. I've been taking pets (cats & dogs) there for years. I've seen multiple vets over the years and they have all been friendly and (seemingly) genuinely concerned about my pets. The place is clean and the appts are on time. The Receptionist will give you a smart card for the parking meter. I've moved to 3 different neighborhoods in the past 7 years and have continued (and will continue) to drive there.

Ardmore Animal Hospital

I can't recommend them enough. They are the absolute greatest. Modern, up to date on medical information. Exceptionally clean, caring and professional.

I agree completely--my vet Dr. Carrie Sutor has been at QVAH for over 12 years, but recently bought Gladwyne Animal Hospital (GAH) with Dr. Howard Wellens, who has owned QVAH since 1980. So she's leaving QVAH to run GAH. Since she has cared for my current dog for a while and I have a long standing relationship with her, I am following her to Gladwyne, even though it's quite a shlep for me from Old City. GAH is essentially no different than QVAH since it's now owned and run by 2 vets from there, including the vet that founded QVAH.

Isn't it "Suitor"? My dogs see whatever woman is available at Queen Village. I'm not fond of Wellens, the owner and only man there. I'd recommend them too. I used to take my dog to a vet on Ridge Pike in Plymouth Meeting and I can't remember the vet but it was right around Chemical Road and they were really good.

I agree with queen village animal hospital, I have only been there four times but they seem to be great. It is a little bit of a trek from the yunk, I think you should be able to find someone closer to you.

no, it's not "suitor", it's sutor.

like wil said, if you want a closer place than QVAH but somewhere just as good, I would go with Gladwyne Animal Hospital and see Carrie Sutor.

wellens isn't the only male vet at QVAH--dr. martin mcguire is the other male vet on staff. and brian is the only male tech, and he is awesome. but truthfully, i haven't heard good things about mcguire and am not comfortable having my dog seen by him.

Dr Sutor x3. She's wonderful, she cared for my dogs from 1st visit to last and was always thoughtful & patient.

I use and love Hopewell Veterinary Hospital in Rockledge for my dog. There are 4 doctors there, and they are all good. They are very patient and very thorough. For me it's worth the 1/2 drive from Fairmount. It's probably around 20 minutes from Manayunk.

It's a smaller 2 doctor practice by norristown, but they are very friendly and know what they are doing. Definitely recommend them. Plus they see exotics

AbeldeldepBug 12-31-2009 10:03 PM

are you willing to travel to Langhorne? 30 minutes maybe, but worth it. ill give you the info if u want it. and BTW, dr guth is definitely a great cat vet- i go there from QV for my boys.
