what a load

If the words/concepts/facts/principles uttered by a scientist seem true, then it is up to you to investigate.

remember Rumsfeld's
unknown unknowns.... you don't even know what you are denying... accepting... even from lecturers

Frankly science is controversy...... and always will be (don't confuse it with extant technology)

so take it all... process it and accept what you think is valid.... but be prepared to eat humble crow.

Frankly science is controversy..... Unfortunately for you, that doesn't make controversy science, and that's all that you've got http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/tongue.png

You can't always do your own investigation though. I mean, I can hardly do a particle physics experiment in my back yard. And I can't be an expert in every discipline... you know, like you. So at some point I have to decide which sources I trust and which ones I don't. Self correcting, heavily scrutinised, peer reviewed scientists who have to make testable predictions and then build upon them... sounds about as good as I'm going to get.

I'm not sure I agree that {
{the fact that labels may be false} is of any particularly more significant interest when the label is "scientist"
}.

As you know, I mean all scientists in all fields, out there doing there bit and improving our lot.
If that wasn't clear it is now.
"Real scientists" are not primarily engaged in "improving our lot". If science, tomorrow, discovered a fact that significantly degenerated our "lot" it would still be science. Think of AGW and climate science, for example.

You have a horribly romanticized notion of science, B.C., which often leads to conflict between yourself and others who better understand the subject.

I suspect it's pointless, but I'll ask you once again to step back a little from this meta-position you've wedded yourself to and try to seriously consider some of the criticism which is sent your way
