Default 4G - Lurks and Perks
Afternoon TT-ers!

As part of being afflicted by the bright and shiny bug, I have been looking at mobile phones... Telstra is spruiking it's 4G network, but I'm wondering at this early stage, is it really worth all the hype?

Never having felt the need to stream or download anything onto my phone (that's what home wifi is for), is it really worth getting a 4G phone "right now"?

Are there other perks/pitfalls that one needs to be aware of?

I've seen 22Mbps, but that was right at the beginning of the network being rolled out. With congestion, it's likely that speeds will be much lower.

I have to admit, I used a 3g usb dongle modem a fair bit at my old job, and will soon be on it permanently as my only means of acessing the net from home (no phone line so no adsl possible) and I found the 3g network was noticebly slower than my naked dsl+ line, so I might have a look at the 4g network as a replacement for the 3g network modem

its ok for email and forums and stuff, but the 3g network can be painful for big files and downloading videos etc

(says the guy to started with a 300 baud accustic coupler modem that lived in a padded wooden box LOL)
