Default weird problem...
I got an interesting problem. On my desktop, there is nothing. It's just a blank screen. No Start bar, icons, anything. Only way I can get on the internet is by Ctrl+alt+del, then going to New Task. anyone know what may be wrong? I've already tried restarting it, several times. Nothing seems to work.

where was the task bar previously? is there couple of lines there? if so, its just been "hidden".. easily solvable by moving the mouse cursor until it shows the "resizing" arrows.. click and hold, then drag, and the start bar should show.

if you can move the start menu, then you should be able to right-click in the blank screen. if so, highlight "arrange icons by" and then click "show desktop icons"

that is, if what bagel said about the explorer.exe file, is not corrupted. or if there isnt a script running at logon...

Description of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 System File Checker (Sfc.exe)

basically the same tool, if a file is corrupted, then it can be replaced (see inside articles for instructions on replacement..)
