Mozilla’s Brand New Firefox 3.5 Is Worth Downloading

Mozilla has just released the final version of Firefox 3.5. The JavaScript performance — critical for many web apps — is massively improved thanks to the new TraceMonkey engine, making 3.5 feel very fast indeed. In addition to improved performance and standards compliance, Firefox 3.5 features new privacy controls, location-aware browsing, and the ability to play video and audio content without using plugins.

I've downloaded it, but haven't installed it yet.

i had the older firefox and it started giving me trouble. i can't quite put my finger on it, but it seems as if any time i load a page with flash animation on it it runs sssslllllllooooowwwww. So bad that we just stopped using it and went back to IE until i could take the time to address it.

Over the last day or so i downloaded the new version and just did a reinstall. Didn't fix the problem. I guess i could try an uninstall/reinstall...but i don't think that will do it either. I am thinking i may need to reinstall the newest macromedia flash player or something...not sure which plugin it is that is malfunctioning.

I hope that when i get this resolved to give it a try again. I really don't want to uninstall because i have all the cool apps installed for firefox already, and don't want to have to go through downloading, installing, and configuring them all again (especially No Script).

Thanks t1. I wasn't aware it was out there yet. Downloaded and installed. Does seem to be faster and the web pages sharper and crisper...but maybe that's just me on a gloomy overcast day. A tad more anal about security..more rigamarole to do things like delete temporary internet file cache and there is an annoying 'open a new tab' tab on every web page. I'm sure I'll find more, or leass, to like.

It seems a lot faster.
