Default So Why is the Government Really Against Online Poker?
Who will benefit from the crackdown on internet poker? | Timothy P. Carney | Beltway Confidential | Washington Examiner

Big Business using Big Government to squash the competition. I'm sure once any number of big casinos want to run their own online poker ops, the lobbying will flip to the opposite side to strip the illegality of online poker.

I know almost nothing about online poker. If the credit cards are blocked, how can people start ? how would you collect winnings ? How protected are people who play protected from someone hacking the computer as was done a few years ago ?

You can open an account with a foreign bank and wire money via FedWire to the foreign bank, which has no restrictions on funding your online poker account. Also, US poker players who had money after online gaming was declared illegal could still gamble with the funds still in their account, Congress had simply blocked the funding with changes to Regulation E and stipulations on EBT card operators that they could not do business with any merchant that engaged in online gaming [of course, leaving a big hole open so that casinos can continue to accept EBT transactions].
