Its a Bad Week for the GOP.. Newt Gingrich is announcing he is running Wednesday
 

Man.. The GOP has a chance to beat Obama, but they need to put thery money and resources behind a candidate that can beat him.

a re-tread is not going to do it...

It has to be a fresh face, with Either Rubio or Christy as VP.

I used to think that what we needed was a fresh face, someone that is new and a straight shooter.

But the more I ponder it, I think that would be a big mistake. The system is so corrupt and out of control, it would surely kill someone that doesn’t have inside knowledge……unless they appoint people with the inside experience.

But I agree, the same old same old mindset is not going to cut it.

Newt Gingrich brings in some baggage to the situation of course. His personal life is bound to come up making it unlikely that he will escape the primary with all that much percentage of the vote. However if he does somehow make it out of the primary as a front runner, I am not sure he has much prayer at being able to win against Obama. In my opinion, it is unlikely he will take much of the independent vote with him. When he actually does announce on Wednesday, it will be a sad day for the GOP with a good deal of laughter coming from his political opposition.

This is one independent who would never vote for Gingrich, him being such an assbag and all. When I think of Gingrich, I think of the Senate trying to bring Bill Clinton down, and doing little else during Clinton's second term.

Gingrich is too smart to think he can win the nomination, much less the election. His candidacy is aimed at restoring him to the councils of power within the Republican Party and, possibly a prestigious appointed job in the Bachmann administration. He doesn't seem to realize that he is going to be the replacement for The Donald as comic relief in the GOP's travelling circus troop.

You blame the Speaker of the House for the actions of the Senate (which voted to acquit Clinton after he was impeached by the House)?

I don't see Newt as a viable candidate, but then I am fully expecting this upcoming election to be the same as the last 3 - a competition between Turd Sandwich and Giant Douche to be the one who sucks just a little bit less.

I am so tired of all these announcements that come out to announce that someone will at some future date be making an announcement. To quote Spaceballs: "What are you preparing? You're always preparing. Just go!"

If he does get the nomination (I highly doubt he will) we will have mr. obama in the outhouse for four more.

You're right all except for the last part. Newt would take Obama to the mat on policy issues. Flat-out.

That said, the Dems and the media wouldn't let that happen. They would drag up all of his baggage.

Which, unfortunately for Gingrich, is considerable.
