I tried smiling when I didn't really feel like, for a while in my teenage years. Didn't improve how I felt, was just tiring, and probably looked obviously faked to others.
Pfft I still do that every day Doesn't normally make me feel better but it does remind me not to say what I'm thinking... *whistles innocently* OTOH, changing your body language can give you an emotional boost when you need it- pull up your shoulders and stand up straight can immediately improve your emotional state and boost your confidence.
