Police pick up third suspect over maid abuse

GEORGE TOWN: Police have arrested a third suspect in connection with the case of an Indonesian maid who was allegedly assaulted and forced into a threesome sex romp with the couple who employed her. The woman, a 39-year-old clerk who worked for a maid agency, was picked up from her office in York Road here yesterday. She will be remanded until Thursday to facilitate investigations.

Meanwhile, a remand order on the couple – a 41-year-old contractor and his 36-year-old wife – which ended yesterday has been extended till Friday. It was earlier reported that the maid from East Java was found wandering aimlessly in a housing estate in Nibong Tebal on Sept 13 by a good Samaritan, who took her to a police station to file a report.

The couple had allegedly left her by the road in Taman Cenderawasih a day earlier with RM30 to fend for herself. The maid claimed that she was raped several times by the employer, a grass-cutting contractor, while his wife would beat her up if she did not give in to her husband’s sexual demands. She alleged the couple had used a belt to hit her on the head, hands and legs and that she was splashed with hot water and had her chest burnt with an iron.
