Here's some fungus:
Favolaschia calocera
is a bright orange fungus that looks quite good but unfortunately is an invader from overseas. First identified in Australia in 2005 its now common in the Dandenongs.
Hericium coralloides
is found through much of the world and apparently has some
medicinal qualities
- I just like the look of them. I found a colony on a dead tree last year and yesterday I revisited to see how they were coming along this year - graced with amber drops.
These
Mycena viscidocruenta
were growing on one side of a rotting stick where interesting the other side had fruiting bodies of
Favolaschia calocera
. I deliberately focused on the cute lil one.
These
Steccherinum sp
can easily be overlooked in passing as just a blotch of pale fungus but then you'd miss seeing the cool forest of icicles you can see close-up.
Only a little bit of fungus out so far but I hope to encounter more this weekend in east Gippsland.
