I was actually on a pretty long waiting list for a Shetland Sheepdog from a reputable breeder at the time I ended up with my dog. However I came across that cute little pup with the big ears and the big sad eyes on petfinder and I couldn't not bring her home. Turns out I got the perfect dog I never was looking for. She has a short manageable coat, low to medium energy, easy to train, bomb proof temperment. She has been the best dog ever. I'm so glad I took a chance on that little rescue mutt, because every day she continues to surprise me. Just an all around great animal.

I'm glad I took the chance and adopted her. Because I got everything I ever wanted in a dog and I don't know if I would have found that with any other dog. I lucked out and got the dog I always wanted since I was a kid. And we have been lucky that thus far she has been overall relatively healthy.

I'll definitely rescue again. I'd never turn down the "right" rescue dog. However I am starting to seriously look into getting a well bred purebred as well.

Unfortunately our other dog (purebred) came from bad breeding from a byb and we lost him at 2 and a half years old. He was a very sick boy all his life. So before I go out and pay a lot of money for another purebred I'm going to be damn sure I know what I am getting.
