I think you should siot him down next time he says something like that and tell him HE can't make the dog meaner. Even if he beats the dog every day its not gonna get meaner. And if he wants a "protector" he has to be super nice to it so vit will love him and want to protect him.
Or just take the dog and tell him he can't have it back and if he starts crap, you'll call the cops.

Nope, you can't fix stupid.
