It really depends what someone wants out of a membership. If going into a membership you are looking at it from a dollars and cents, it is usually not worth it. Even if you save a few dollars, you are pencilled in to playing the same course. But if you are looking at it from the rest that goes on with a golf membership (the lifestyle), you will usually be happier at a private course or with a membership.

With memberships can come leagues, private games, new playing partners and friends, club activities, etc...
