Here's the scenario.

I currently play TA 845 Irons. I have had them for 13 or so years. I want to try something new.

My buddy has a set of Callaway x-22 tours. He said he would sell them to me for 300-350 in the end of April. Now I typically would not have looked at tour irons but for the price I am very tempted.

I went to Austad's today and hit some clubs in the simulator. They guy helping me asked me a few questions. I asked him if I could hit some balls. I asked if I could hit the 22 tours, r9's and the CG7's. He told me I was probably not good enough to play with the 22 tours, which maybe I'm not but he then proceeded to give my some Ping I & G15's.

Aren't the Ping I's on the same level as the 22 tours?

So the question is, do i buy these 22 tours at a steal even if I'm not at the best of the game cause they are probably more forgiving than what I have now or do I just stick to what I have?

I will not spend 6-700 on a set of irons this year. It is not feasible at the moment.

What would you do?
