Hmmmmm...wow!!! Although I'm a very social person and have many friends (not to brag or anything...), like some other people, I can't stand when I'm not part of a conversation or event that is happening with my other friends. It's like I GOTTA BE THERE AND YA SHOULDA INVITED ME!!!! I need to work on not getting so jealous over things my friends talk about.
Also, my school is very clicky, although it has improved in the past few years. You gain your status based upon how many sports you play, how "hot" you are, how many girlfriends you have had. Speaking of girlfriends, the chicks usually only go for the "hot, athletic" guys. What bothers me is that many people do not look deeper than that, seeing if you're a good person, good student, who generally really cares about people. You should see how guys use their girlfriends at school; it's mainly just for status, bragging about how nice her body is, etc. I don't think that way; I want a girlfriend for her personality, the ability to care, is down to earth, I can talk to her about anything, and takes me for who I am, not solely on what I look like (and, ok, she's gotta be attractive
, but she doesn't have to be the most drop-dead gorgeous girl in the grade). It's disgusting, and I really don't get what a girl would see in a guy who cares so little about her, but hey, if she gets the hot guy and they both get status, all is well.
I'm also bothered how people are not appreciated for their achievements. I play the clarinet and am in the top band at my school, which only about 50 (out of over 1000) students in my school get the opportunity to participate in. It seems that you are only appreciated if you are the best on your football team or the smartest kid in your class, not the small things in life, such as winning a science competition, doing a community project, helping a friend with homework, etc. It's like you're just left in the wind to blow away...
