OK, get off your high horse.

A moment of distraction can happen whether you are mowing the lawn, driving a car, walking a dog or walking a tightrope.

You could either run over your foot, crash, get it run over or fall off. None of which are particularly pleasant.

And only a non-driver would have the audacity to suggest that you should never be distracted while driving. It happens whether you want it to or not from time to time.
Let him stay on his high horse. Bungle's original comment is still very much valid: you made the mistake of not paying attention, and you're blaming the roundabout and its lack of markings. The blame is, as you of course have long realized yourself, all yours - everything else is just an excuse.

When I was done at work, I looked at the behind of one of my students. That fine body managed to distract me for the entire trip home!
