Actually, what you're referring to happened around 5-10 minutes before the end, which was quite relevant and perhaps chilling. What I am referring to is, again, the last 20 seconds before the end.

Spoiler:
The girl going out on her own with his sword when clearly she has no skill to survive in the environment. It rang of typical hollywood (non) logic.

I agree somewhat, I think (Spoiler): she was going back to get her mother, and she set off after the main character had died, which was after he quoted the entire bible to be written, which would have been plenty of time for Eli to teach her what he knew about surviving in the world.

Setting up for a sequel perhaps?
