I say give him a call as he wants, but don't be talked out of recovering the fees.

If he offers to make a seperate payment to you for the fees, that would be the quickest and easiest way to resolve the situation, without needing to get ebay involved. You could also then leave him neutral feedback, which is better for him than a negative.

Its frustating I know, as a lot of ebayers don't seem to understand that the moment they win an auction, its a contract for them to complete. Its not "optional", in the case they then get it from elsewhere.

They have bought the item at the moment the auction closes, not the moment it arrives in the post to them! - although not everyone realises and remembers this.
