1) From Darul Uloom Deoband:

The above link mentions that the story of Umar R.A. burying his daughter alive is not authentic and it has no basis.
2) From Pakistan:
Assalam-o-Alykum!
The total issues of HAZRAT-E-UMAR (RA) consisted of 9-sons and 4-daughters. The detail of 4-daughters is as under:
1. HAFSA This was the wife of Rasool-ullah (SAWS)
2. RUQAYA This was the wife of Ibrahim Bin Naeem Bin Abdullah
3. FATIMA This was the wife of Abdul Rehman Bin Zaid Bin Alkhatab
4. ZAINAB This was the wife of Abdullah Bin Abdullah Bin Saraqa Al-Adoovi
Reference: (TAREEKH AL-KHAMEES P 283, Vol. 2)
The above detail shows that HAZRAT UMER (RA) did not bury alive any of his daughters.

One of the companions may Allaah be pleased with himwho had killed his daughter in the era that preceded Islam narrated his story: "We would worship idols in the pre-Islamic era and kill our daughters. I had a daughter, who, when she was old enough to comprehend and talk, would rejoice whenever she saw me and would immediately respond. One day, I called her and told her to follow me, so she did, until we reached a well that belonged to my tribe. I then took her by her hand and threw her in the well, and the last thing I heard her cry was: ‘O father! O father!'" (Ad-Daarimi)
It is narrated in the first chapter of Sunan Darimi that a man came to the Holy Prophet and narrated this incident of pre-Islamic days of ignorance. "I had a daughter who was much attached to me. When I called her, she would come running to me. One day I called her and took her out with me. On way we came across a well. Holding her by the hand I pushed her into the well. Her last words that I heard were: Oh father, oh father!!" Hearing this, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) wept. A person present on the occasion said: “O man, you have grieved the Holy Prophet.” But the Holy Prophet said: “Do not stop him, let him question about what he feels so strongly now.” Then the Holy Prophet asked him to narrate his story once again. When he narrated it again the Holy Prophet wept so bitterly that his beard became wet with tears. Then he said to the man: "Allah has forgiven that you did in the days of ignorance: now turn to Him in repentance.”
This father had once been an idol worshipper, like all the Arabs before the Prophet Muhammad came among them and showed them the holy way of Islam. Before he became a Muslim, the Arab had a sweet little girl. ?One day, the Arab called to her and she ran to his side. He took her for a long walk and the girl skipped and hopped happily beside her father as they went along. Before long, the father and his daughter came to a well. Suddenly, without warning, he grabbed her, lifted her up and threw her down the well. The little girl was frightened and cried out in terror, shrieking "Daddy, Daddy, Daddy!" ?Her father refused to listen to her pleas and cries for help. He then threw a load of earth down the well to bury his daughter and went home and left her to die. The Prophet (pbuh) was appalled when he heard what the father had done. His heart ached with sorrow. Tears welled up in his eyes and spilled down his face and into his beard. The Prophet wept so much that his face and beard became very wet and the hairs on his beard were all straggly with water. ?When his friends saw the Prophet (pbuh) weep like this, they felt their eyes, too, fill with tears but knew that it was right for the Prophet to shed so many tears for the poor little girls who had died such a horrible death. For had he not taught his people that they should love ALL children, both boys and girls? Had he not said: "Allah loves he who loves and looks after his family, especially girls?"
