You see many people these days being very proud of their lineage. If one travels to the various mazhars of auliya in the arab and indopak world one shall see the descendents of big saints and ulema who do not have an itom of what their ancestors had but they have taken on the role of their illustrious ancestors.

Bandae ishq shudi tarke nasab kun jami
Ke daree raah fulan ibne fulan cheeze naist

O jami be a slave of ishq (love) and leave your shajara (chain) of ancestors.
In this field son of fulan (so and so) and son of fulan (so and so) does not work.

This is a severe warning for those who feel very proud of their ancestors even though they themselves are far from the path.
Interesting poem. In which book have you found this poem ?
