Allama Iqbal was greatly influenced by Schacht, the German orientalist. During Allam Iqbal's earlier career his thoughts echoed that of his teacher which were naturally insidious. His series of lectures which has been published in a book form Reconstruction of Islamic Thought (correct me if i'm mistaken) has many orientalist ideas infused within it.
However, later on in life he developed a companionship with Maulana Syed Abul Hasan Ali Nadwi who alhumdulillah erased many of his earlier thoughts. His works written from this period are far more Islamic.
I hope this helps.
