There is a greater 'awareness' of the deen than before (well since I was a teen like 20 years ago) and a lot more of the 'mashaAllah, Alhamdulillah' in conversations. BUT there is in some women, a boundary line that they don't want to or don't think about passing. By this I mean influence from peers, culture etc. It's an attitude of 'i'm wearing hijab 'cos your're meant to' - but there's no real analysis of what hijab is about. Hence the half-sleeves, tight tops and skinny jeans, huge humps and now you see fake eyelashes too. Ugh.
Those of us in boring abayas, big plain hijabs are just well you know 'boring'. There are now 'hijab dressers' that charge £15 or more to 'dress' your hijab in a decorative way for weddings and parties. They use double or triple multi coloured scarves and form intricate flowers with them, adding diamonds and jewels to accentuate. You can get some hair accessories that deliberately give volume on your head in order to get that 'hump' look.... If you search on youtube you will find many videos showing you how to wear hijab in innovative ways. It's cool and 'halal' according to these people and young girls are following it thinking it's ok.
I don't know anyone who is 'forced' to wear the hijab. Uh uh. It's actually cool to wear it and some girls actually look better with it on than off i'm afraid.
May Allah protect us and our daughters, sisters etc from this fitnah. Even the black Saudi abayahs come in slimmer styles and tight sleeves....
Allah forgive us all...
