Wa `alaykum as-salam:

I depends on the tariqa. Some turuq have different `adab than others. For example, in the Shadhili tariqa, one may leave the Tariqa 3 times.

My recommendation is to take it case by case, Tariqa by tariqa.

three times? so you can join back twice?

why is that? what happens after the third? is it a sin by any chance?

what about other tariqas?
