Of course it matters because it is software that you run on these things.

The fact is that there are significantly more tablet optimized apps for iOS.
I'm not sure the designed for tablets issue matters anymore, allot of phones and tablets share the same resolution on android so most applications look just fine without having to designed especially for tablets.

Sure, for the tech savvy those are great things but for the mass market, they don't buy a tablet to play SNES games on it. There are countless media players, numerous browsers, and tons of accessories for iOS. You can use any BT keyboard with the iPad so I am unsure what your point is there. Last time I used iOS you couldn't change the default browser, you could use other browsers but when I opened links it would always start the default browser. It was annoying.

Controllers come in handy for games in general, there are apps available on Google Play that enable controller support for many games that don't support controllers by default. It's awesome.

Also using a mouse and keyboard is useful, if I connect to my TV or Monitor using MHL/HDMI and also connect it to my USB hub I can use mice, keyboard and storage devices that are connected at the same time much like a computer.
