I read and loved The Thorn Birds by Colleen McCullough just before I saw the mini-series version. I read Bonfire of the Vanities by Thomas Wolfe, which was excellent, before I saw the crappy movie based on it! I read all of Sidney Sheldon's 80s books which were made into mini-series. Also read Stephen King's It, Misery, Cujo, Firestarter, The Dead Zone, et. al. Let's see... also Hollywood Wives and Lucky by Jackie Collins, for that taste of sudsy trash. Shogun and Noble House by James Clavell. I'm sure there are more that I will think of later!!!
