I 'thought' Canon has some of the best compacts and P&S's around.
absolutely not.. canon is great when it comes to dslr's but when it comes to p&s casio and even sony has much better models.

canon's cmos sensors are great but i cant say the same for their ccd sensors they use for the compacts. honestly i wouldn't make the assumption of just because their S2/3/5is models are good among their own competition (which they aren't really) not all of their point and shoots are good.

right now the best sensors used in point and shoots are super ccd sensors (especially bigger sensors 1/1.7 and 2/3 sensors) made by fujifilm. their iso performance is miles ahead of sensors used by canon even when you compare same size sensors.

i'm no expert on dslr's as i've only had a dslr now for 3 weeks but when it comes to point and shoot i've made so much research on them and canon is definitely far from being the best.
