Did the ones in this red mosque do takfir of the government and declare armed war against it or carry out armed attacks against it, before this government attack took place?
Salam

brother did you read the article posted in the beginning that was largely a translation of Mufti Rafi's lecture or not? if not then please do so. a lot of effort was put into it. it should be published. if you read it, it should have answered your questions.

one cannot imagine how the situation deteriorated in pakistan as soon as the lal masjid massacre took place. I was in Kohat at the time, on one of my very rare trips (1 of only 3 visits to my ancestral homeland). immediately a lot of soldiers, policeman died within those weeks in Kohat, masjids that army member frequented were bombed etc. one got police officer who was simply standing by a fresh water spring where the people were swimming etc. got shot there just a few metres from where i was. i remember speaking to an army officer (pashtun, sunni, well-educated in the secular sense of the term) who told me that for this alone i would not hesitate in pulling the trigger would musharraf come before me today.

i wonder that in a country where corruption, bribery, lies, deceipt, ungodliness, not lowering one's gaze, pornography, mocking the sunnah or religious people, kidnapping, ransom, murder, and not respecting the rights of Allah have all become so widespread at every level of society (no it's not like pakistan is a good country with good people a bad government, things never work that way) can we really expect anything different in that country?

when paksitanis give not a care for respecting the rights of allah upon them (and i'm a pakistani so im included in this first and foremost), why on earth would we expect other individuals or fellow pakistanis to respect our rights? because we are muslim? how so? our muslim sounding last names?
