A large number of people on a overpopulated island enjoying one of the highest Hight HDIs in the world.

Sure much of Western Europe is also some of the most densley populated realestate in the world but like I said much of Europe isn't that impressive.

North America comes second because while it does grant a huge population one of the highest HDIs in the world it dosen't have to deal with a high density of population yet.

Wait, do you prefer a higher population density, all other things being equal? Or is there some thing you like about Japan that is caused by the high population density?
