Default Jewellery on men
Thoughts, feelings, opinions on the matter anyone? I keep my jewellery, such as I wear any very simple, a watch. However I'm thinking of starting to wear a gold chain, not for any particular reason, just to wear one.

Do you think a man wearing jewellery imparts a certain socio-economic or cultural background? Here White men who cover themselves in jewellery (big chunky rings, gold watches, gold chains etc) are seen as 'chavs', tasteless or even gypsy types. I.E. would you immediately judge a man who wears jewellery for non-practical reasons (i.e. anything other than his wedding ring and a watch)?

Watches are so 1980's. Doesn't your smart phone know what time it is? I wear nothing but a wedding band.

Yeah but my watch is an Aston Villa (a football club in England) watch so I use it to signify some alleigance there. And, yes, my Blackberry tells me the time.

I agree though, no point in wearing a Cassio now that phones do the job of telling the time. Wear a nice watch if you're going to bother at all.

I don't like jewelry, especially on men though I like when men are wearing watches because it shows some kind of a stability of a person I think.

I find men who cover themselves in jewelry pretentious. I don't generally like the idea of men wearing jewelry and I'd look at men who wear "bling" negatively especially if they wore earrings, noserings and so on...I really hate those. Necklaces are so and so depending on what they depict. Watches and wedding rings are fine.

That makes sense... the team loyalty representation.

Additional thoughts on jewelry for men... chances of you being mistaken for a pimp rise exponentially with each additional piece worn.

I am not a fan of lots of jewelry on men. It depends on the guy's personal style, some can pull it off, but in general I think it looks too feminine. Rings are fine, even flashy ones.... but I dislike earrings or necklaces. That being said, I have dated guys who wore both.

Oh but a nice watch is fine, I like watches.

**** I have seen, a couple of times, a small toddler boy wearing an earring!! That is so wrong IMO....

i personaly do not like all these stuff, be it chains, piercings, crosses, prayer ropes, or even watches.
i hate stuff being on my skin, and i seriously believe that "less is better"

the only thing i accept is glasses, be it myopia ones or sun ones, but with the laser surgery etc, only sunglasses are actualy needed.
about watches, i actualy hate them, i allways had this really feeling whenever i was wearing a watch, that time was controling me instead of me controling my time.

also some forms of "jewellery" are really disgusting

Wearing false gold teeth like "bling" must be one of the worst fashion ideas in history. Who could possibly find them fashionable or trendy? I think most people agree on jewelry being a no-no for men in general, but why some keep wearing it? I don't get it.

I think it depends on the person, if they can pull it off. The only acceptable jewelry is gold (watches can be steel) and can really only be worn by pimps and East Europeans, Middle Easterners, and Blacks. Earrings and piercings are excluded of course (except for on Blacks).

When it comes to watches, it still depends on the person. The person needs to match with the make and model. For example there are a lot of nerds with the Rolex GMT that wear it to try and look less nerdy. It looks silly and it ruins the model.

Watch only as adornment. There is no practical need for watch if you have a cell phone.
