Just got back from the Rams game. That was the worst officiating I've ever seen. Horrible calls all day long. These guys have no idea what they're doing.

Gromiaaborn 09-17-2012 01:24 PM

I'd like to revise this too awful, just about every game I watched they called too little/too much, and incorrectly. And I'm not just changing because MN lost, I think they were brutal in every game I saw...

I watched a couple of games, and I think they were terrible all around.

False starts missed a lot, which I didn't think was possible.
I watched the Red Zone channel because it was free.

There seemed to be some game which moved right along, then there were some horrible calls and challenges that dragged the games too long. Typical NFL these days.

The one game I watched in full? They were awful and made several horrible calls/non-calls.

THey missed a lot of helmet to helmet. They missed blocks in the back. Saw some really lousy spots. I give them a C-

I only watched the Vikings game, and they did a good job overall. Best thing I can point to is, they had nothing to do with the outcome of the game.

That didn't stop Mario Williams and others.

I'm all for getting these hacks out of here and the other not as bad hacks back in there, but some of those "mistakes" were pretty nit picky.

They were pretty bad in the Eagles/Browns game calling offensive holding @ random - we all know there is some holding on just about every play - and at least one phantom Offensive Pass interference while totally ingoring them on the defensive side. There was also an instance where it took over 5 minutes to tell a coach a play he was challenging was not challengable. Not sure if any of it changed the game, but it certainly made it longer and you could see the players getting visibly frustrated at the inconsistencies abounding.

They seemed to be bad, but not noticeably worse than the regular officials.
Granting an extra timeout to a team trying to take the lead in the final minute and granting a review when a snap had already taken place are complete failures and totally unacceptable. Unfortunately neither of those changed the result of the the game. If they had I think we would see the regular refs back pronto.

geaveheadeNox 09-21-2012 04:58 PM

Last night was a prime example of their NOT knowing the rules... Peyton had run a play but Tomlin whined enough to where his late thrown challenge flag was acknowledged.. That should never happen. And it was a stupid challenge, the WR's knee was down. But still.. The broncos clearly ran the play before he threw that flag. They granted the challenge regardless..

9V4i8xw1 09-21-2012 05:54 PM

hopefully the regular refs will get back soon, but if they don't I hope the rest of the replacements at least get to the leave they were at in the Vikings game. One slip they did have was they said Jax accepted a penalty that was actually declined, but it was corrected and had no outcome on the game. There was just a little confusion as to why Jax would take the penalty instead of decline, but all was forgotten when they placed the ball and flipped the down marker.

geaveheadeNox 09-21-2012 07:13 PM

Ill admit it, they missed a offsides on us prior to the Luck Pick by Jennings. Idonije was way offsides, no call. But earlier in the game they called the Rook McClellin for a neutral zone infraction when he clearly got back and it ended up negating a Peppers sack and forced fumble.. Yeah, these guys suck.

I think I should've posted this as a question I guess, I didn't watch too many games.

Replacement Refs

I probably hold the minority opinion, but overall, I thought they did an OK job. Not perfect, I know they gave Seattle a fourth time out, there were a few issues in each game...but I didn't think it was disaster. I'd grade them a C

I still think we need to get regulars back, but I've seen worse

I would add, my biggest beef is the late flags, they seemed to almost give the crowd/coaches what they wanted at times....

and of course the pace

That was a ridiculously fortuitous spot that they gave to Vick on that fumble. Frankly, I don't know why they couldn't challenge that.
And the Eagles offensive line was awful, replacement refs or not.
