Default Horse collar...
tackles should be subject to review after the blatant blown call that the side judge just made.

This isnt subjective like PI, it either is or it isnt.

The Houston defender had his hand in the middle of Johnson's back and tackled him. How the Side Judge thought that he had his hand under Johnson's dreadlocks and inside his jersey is beyond me.

why would tenn not run clock? Run the clock down, don't kick it with 49 seconds and two timeouts.

I thought they changed the rule and grabbing anywhere on the back of the jersey and yanking directly down and back is now a horsecollar.

I think the announcers just forgot about the rule change

So, the rule is that no tackle can be made by grabbing the back of the jersey?? HOW the hell is one supposed to NOT yank down when tackling and usually falling down while doing it?? I find that hard to believe.

Not to mention, the tackler had his left arm wrapped around him, too.

• All players are prohibited from grabbing the inside collar of the back of the shoulder pads or jersey, or the inside collar of the side of the shoulder pads or jersey, and immediately pulling down the runner. This does not apply to a runner who is in the tackle box or to a quarterback who is in the pocket. Previously, the “horse-collar” tackle rule did not include the back of the shoulder pads or jersey. This increases the scope of the rule. Penalty: Loss of 15 yards.

I don't think it's difficult to avoid the horse collar penalty.

You apparently don't understand the intent of the rule if you're so oppossed to adding the jersey.

His hand was grabbing the jersey in the middle of his back.... nowhere near the collar, muchless the shoulder pads.

THATS the point here. It was so blatantly not close that how the Side Judge, who was no more than 5 ft away, threw the flag , is beyond me.

The intent of the rule is to prohibit being DRAGGED down by the collar not keep legal tackles from being made.

This one was.

Since '06 the NFL has included the jersey. The ball carrier isn't in less danger because the defender's hand is 6 inches lower!
As of today, you can't make that drag down tackle by the jersey in NCAA or even High School.

That was a obvious illegal tackle.

I understand. You believed the "horse collar" rule referred to a tackle by the collar rather than a dangerous style of drag down tackle.

You won't be surprised next time you see the call.
