I am going to apply for a talent/art scholarship so I need to put a portfolio together. Would like some help with it, I know there are several art majors on here (well, I hope they're on here now!). Googled for help/tips and wasn't happy with what I found.
Heres what I have: Paintings: 5 works Sculpture/carving: 5 works Digital/Computer: 6 works with 5 more in question. Complete Drawings (color): 3 works Still Life: 2 works Complete Sketches: 8 works Watercolor: 4 works Plan on using high quality photos and scans to print for a booklet and this will include a cd-rom of the same thing. Is this a good plan? I don't know what I'm doing. lol HELP! |

In terms of presentation it sounds good! For my portfolio reviews when I applied for schools, they did like seeing sketchbooks and works in progress. My one comment would be to narrow it down to your strongest work. Just because you can do everything, doesn't mean you need to show them you can do everything, as it can be a detriment if some of the work is weaker than others. I also feel like 35 pictures is going to be a lot for them to look at, and they may not want to go through everything. Maybe try and cut it down to 15-20 pieces? Editing is hard, I have horrible problems editing my own work, but it is worth it in the end.

I think its a lot too, its going to be tough cutting it down.
![]() I've already been accepted but switched majors from art ed to studio art and now eligible for the scholarship. I really want to show them what I can do..I'm about 2,000 dollars short in tuition and thats not counting my books. Do I need to list what type of medium was used for each piece? Also should I do a table of contents or something like that for the booklet? |
