Default Starting a Photography Business
So lots and LOTS of my FB friends are hiring various local photographers to take photos of their kids/pets/families. I don't think I'm some kind of OMGamazing photographer, but when I see the shit these people pay for, all I can think is, "I have GOT to get in on this. I can do so much better than that!"

For those of you running a photography business, do you have any general advice on getting things started?

One of my fears revolves around lights/studio equipment. I have hot lights and paper backgrounds, but I'm really not comfortable using them. I know lots of people aren't doing that sort of thing these days anyway, but is this a huge drawback?

Another one of my fears is just the typical "How do I get clients?" question. I have a couple of close friends that I could take pictures of for free, then get them to post them to FB with my name...but surely there are better ways of getting my name out there?
