I have a short piece of film, approximately 30 seconds long, and I want to replace the audio track. Now, the sound I have in mind is a repeating duck "quack" sound, that quacks in time with what happens on the screen. I have found a nice duck sound that I'd like to use, but it's a single quack and I need it to repeat at very specific times.
I think the best way to go about this would be if I could use the sound in some kind of virtual piano-style keyboard with the ability to accept .wav files or mp3's, so that when I press a key it quacks, and it would also change pitch as you would expect as you go up and down the scale. So, what I'm asking is...I think..is a virtual synthesizer the application that I need? Or do I need something a lot simpler? Also, I suppose I should ask if anybody could recommend anything. Shareware or Freeware would be preferable, but I'm not averse to spending a reasonable amount on something that will do the job and maybe be of use in later projects. Any suggestions? |

Ah, thanks for the input Halston. I've taken a look at the Adobe site and it looks like quite a powerful application that I'm sure would be very useful indeed. However, I haven't yet been able to ascertain whether it has any kind of "virtual keyboard" that I can use my "quack" sample with

I think I may have hit upon a solution.
After trawling my way through many pages of Google searches and filling up my HD with shareware, I've hit upon a solution to the "virtual keyboard quackery" problem. One of my Google searches led me to a little freeware application called Soundplant. It's a nifty little thing that gives you a keyboard map and allows you to assign a sound to a key-press whilst the program is running. I was also able to change the pitch of my sample, but alas it didn't allow me change the pitch in the way that a virtual-piano type keyboard might. Still, it did the job very nicely indeed and with a bit of jiggery-pokery, coupled with a bit of Camtasia and VirtualDub, I was able to get my Quack-ey sound effect added to my video clip. I'll hopefully get it uploaded sometime over the weekend and post a link to it here. It's only a short thing, just a bit of fun and sillyness ![]() |
