Until recently, I was using a cheap plastic tripod, a leftover from my point and shoot days. It was basic but just about did the job. While out on my latest shoot though it literally broke, luckily my camera wasn't on it at the time.
So, though it was about time for a 'proper' tripod and now the owner of a Manfrotto 190XB Tripod + 390RC2 Head. Cheap for a Manfrotto, but a huge upgrade to was I was using before. ![]() ![]() Have to get used to the increased size and weight now, but it is sure worth it. What is your tripod then? |

Got a Velbon Sherpa 250 after I had 2 Manfrottos break on me (sorry). And yes, the only advantage to cheap tripods is that they are portable, but the advantages outweigh that. |

Yep, it were both the same model... the small portable one. On both of them one of the plastic clamps broke. And we didn't even apply excessive force, they just snapped.
EDIT: this seems to be common on that model as I've read I was not the only one with that problem. Just type "Manfrotto tripod broke" in google, you'll see... ![]() |
