Another history buff here. Specifically the American Civil War. I also enjoy the History of Scotland.

Lemme guess....something about the OK Corral and Pony Express must have hit the top 10 back in 1890

This is definitely an interesting subject, especially when they used the Mark IV and powered it with vacuum tubes. Or when they used the abacus for calculating things.

I also like to read travel books and books about exotic destinations. I'm also a big history buff, so books on historical figures or events appeal to me greatly.

I like history and RPGs, so historical books that fuel fantasy campaigns do it for me (like the books GURPS puts out). I like books on architecture which help to immerse one's mind in the time and place.

I also like pictures of the sightlines of baseball parks.

Apart from history itself, I'm currently thinking of gathering infos and material for a history of car hifi - either for a website or even a book (though the latter one is rather unlikely ).

OK, I clearly am the fluff of this group.

I like reading about the history of old Hollywood and award shows, things of that ilk.

My closet dream is to be a diarist, ala Dominick Dunne.

What can I say, I'm a sucker for LA LA land...

Actually in 1890 through the early 1900's charts were based on sheet music. The very first #1 was John Sosa (sp?) and the second and the third. All his American marches were popular then (in fact you still hear them to this day being played by marching bands )

I know you were just kidding but I am very serious about studying charts

I am a history major from university, I enjoy reading about both european and north american history, I'm not fussy about Asian history. I also like reading or watching sports history, ie Ken Burns Baseball and TSN's hockey history (when it was a game). I also like reading sports almanacs and seeing the stats of players in the past.

I love reading books about enhancing your business, advertising ideas and my favorite is visual design idea books. Unfortunately these books are hard to find and cost a ton of money when I do find them.

I'm fluffy too

I love to read books about movies, cartoons, & 80s collectibles. Mostly I browse the collectibles books at the store, though, feeling a little embarrassed about spending $$$ on books like My Little Pony - A History.

I used to spend a lot of time doing background research for my RPGs, but I'm taking an extended break from that world right now.

I haven't had a lot of time lately to read anything for fun...
But I like Travel books, but about the history of the destination.

When I go places, I will buy books about the place. For example, when I visited Versaille, I bought a book about the History of Versaille and a book about Louis XIV. I bought a book about Kensington Palace and a book about Princess Diana. It makes the destination more real.

I also like cookbooks. I have a lot of cook books! Now if only I had the time to make the things in the books!

Default Hobby history
Everyone has a hobby. Sometimes it's fun just to read the history behind a certain subject revolving around that hobby.

What history does everyone here like to read about regarding their favorite hobbies?

I like to read about travel and businesses/entrepreneurs
