Nice shots, but why did you strip the EXIF data out of the images?
![]() If you are using Photoshop, then NEVER use the "save for web" option, as that will remove the EXIF data. Just use the regular "save as" option, and select JPEG. You'll then get a quality slider option as normal. - and then the EXIF data is preserved in the file, so that photo geeks like myself can read it. ![]() |

These are great, but if you were there for a week, you must surely have some more from out on the island and of the ocean and the water! [yes]
I really like the octopus one best because its skin shows the best detail and texture. Nice shots, but why did you strip the EXIF data out of the images? |

I thought that "save for web" in some way helped to optimize the photos other than by changing quality (via the little slider). The save for web option is just a nice graphicky way for people to see the result of the compression % they choose in the preview window, nothing more than that. |

Sorry about the EXIF data...I'm in the habit of using save-for-web because I often use it to slice images for websites, etc.
![]() Anyways, all the fish photos were taken in the Aquarium here. It was very difficult to get good photos because the light is EXREMELY low, the fish move extremely fast, and any sort of flash is out of the question. To add to the difficulty, I wanted to use my circular polarizer on some of the shots (it gets rid of the hazy glare off the glass and in the water, and allows for shots like the first one where the light rays become very clear and distinct), and the polarizer darkens the photos by 2 stops! So, most of the really dark photos were taken at around 1/160 and f2.8 at 50mm and ISO800. There's obviously a bit of noise full-size, but it's pretty unavoidable in the conditions I was working with. Noise-Ninja has been doing a pretty good job of cleaning them up, but the smoothness gives them a sort of painterly-CGI look. ![]() Tomorrow I'm heading out on the Highway to Hana, so I should get some pretty good waterfall and forest pics. I'm also trying to get some decent sunset/beach photos and such. The problem with shooting photos in Hawaii is that a lot of the activities involve a lot of water, and I'm not going to take my camera with me while I'm jetskiiing in the ocean. Oh, and I've only seen 1 hula performance so far, and it was nothing I wanted to take photos of (Hula dancers shouldn't have fat rolls on their stomachs...ugh). |

Damn, I didn't realize you were still on vacation. IN that case, what the hell are you doing posting here? Go out and get some photos, and more importantly, have a blast!
About the hula skirts... well, I remember seeing some very foxy dancers, but then again, maybe the island has changed since I've been there! ![]() |
