Default I hate digicams that...
...can only record up for 15 seconds[cursing]
My dad has a sony cybershot which which takes quite decent pictures and records good videos..but i can only set the video to 5 / 10 / 15 secs!
We have another digicam that can record 30 seconds..still not enough
Why can't i just record until my mem stick is full? i mean even my k750 can record forever

limited buffer memory, maybe? just a guess, well, I don't believe they would limit it for no reason...

Due to the size of the buffer in the camera I would imagine. Basically the camera is recording data faster than it can write it to the memory card, so its stored in a buffer first. Once that buffer is full, then recording will stop.

Oh..
well that sucks.
They might as well leave the feature out if it's max 15sec..

Though it doesnt matter what size i select..it's 15sec on lowest res and 15sec on highest res

Well it is a digital camera after all and not a DV camera. I imagine they presumed 15 seconds should be fine for capturing little moments like someone blowing out candles on a cake or whatever. What camera is it anyway? Is it old and or cheap?

The Canon Digital IXUS (PowerShot SD, or whatever, in the US) can also record 640x480 videos at 30FPS until the memory card is full. Records pretty nice looking videos too.

Just be glad you don't have an SLR...

The Canon TX1000 can record unlimited 1280x720p (HD) video. You'll chew through a lot of memory very quickly though...

Sony Cybershot DSC-p100 here with Sony 512MB memory stick pro.

No recording problems with any settings, only stops when battery is dead.

I got myself a Sanyo HD1A.

Brilliant for recording movies and take pictures too! Up to 4 hours of video on a 4Gb card 640x480 @ 30FPS. Can do HD movies at higher resolution but can record up to 1:30hours.

Downside is that once the internals get to a high temp it refuses to record. [thumbdown]

WRONG!

I messed up the name, but the Canon TX-1 (not TX-1000) can do all the things I said.

Now you're all quiet?

Just admit that you love the TX-1 and we can all move along...

Imo, that only happens on old gen digicams... nowadays digicams are basically can record till memorycard/space full.
