Default Open EXR Format
Does anyone have any experience with the Open EXR format? As far as using it when doing photography or anything? I am just getting into it. I started doing my 3D renderings for work into 32bits per channel Open EXR files, and I think it's pretty neat, but, don't really know what cool stuff I can do.

Open EXR is a open High Dynamic Range format made by ILM, and freely available filters are provided for popular image editing software.

Funny I was reading something about a photoshop and a 32 Bit format with HDR I don't know if it was EXR. You could merge three photos normal exposure, over exposed and under exposed to give a enhanced image. I didn't really understand much about it though.

Yeah, that's one thing you can do. One other thing I noticed is since I use Cinema 4D, when I render, it gives me the same abilities with an image as if I was using a RAW format from a digital camera. So, I can change the exposure and fine tune wihtout losing so much detail.

So, it seems really cool. I just feel there is all this potential, and I don't know what to do with it...

There are also tons of settings for compressing the extra info, from none to a bunch of weird things. The documentation is written sort of to a tech level, more than a digital artist level, so, it's confusing.
