WMP 10...? -.-; -- I usually stick with VLC. It seems to have just about every type of codec, so you'll never have any problems playing most files (in fact, there have only been about 2 files which it couldn't play for me, out of about 10,000 or so), not to mention all of the various options that many other media players are sadly lacking in. Try it out -- you might like it

Why dont you try Winamp, that might work,

click the volume button in the bottom right corner, that little silver ball if your using windows xp, and turn the WAVE all the way up, it should be the second bar to the right.

Have you tried using files you've known to have worked in the past?
You possibly don't have the appropriate codec installed.
Also, is it using the correct audio device? If you have more than one, you could try swapping around.

Finally, and no offence for the stupid question, but the media player volume is up right?

It'd help if you clarify your problem a little bit more. You said your 'speakers' were the problem when it sounds more like a software issue.

1. Are your speakers not working and you are getting no sound at all? Try headphones to make sure.

2. If Media Player's giving you a problem, maybe you should re-install it and/or try Winamp.
3. Find a program called AVIcodec if you don't have the right codecs, it will scan a media file and inform you of the proper codec needed, along with a link to a site to get it. It's handy to have even if it doesn't solve this problem.

Nice to hear it all got solved. I never use Mediaplayer nowadays. VLC just does everything better
