Default KW Kamon?
I was thinking about the amount of times I come across people at tournaments and seminars and am a bit unsure of whether or not someone is at KW, most of the time I don't ask to avoid looking like a plonker.

I thought I saw some of you at the London cup but I wasn't completely sure. So, I thought about it and I wondered, would you wear a small KW Kamon on your do if KW had it for sale on their site?

KW staff: not asking for it, just curious if people would wear it.

My thinking is that you could avoid the awkwardness of asking questions like: "are you my internet buddy?" and looking like a total geek if the person doesn't turn out to be who you think it is.

Might be good advertising for KW too.

Anyway, is Friday I don't have a hungover so my mind might be working arseways, could be a stupid idea

I think people using their real name would be a much better idea.

You can always drink at lunch time to reorganise your thoughts.

I have a hangover and i think its not soo good an idea. Kamon on doh is a big step and maybe KW would trivialise it, I'd much rather a KW t-shirt, or jacket. or maybe sticker for my bogu/shinai bag.

yup,

kamon is a pretty serious step. if your purpose is to identify each other through our geekiness, then t-shirt or sticker would do it. i wouldn't mind sticking a sticker somewhere. i'm sure that KW can have some made and hand them out as a PR? at the next international tourney? making a bunch of them should not cost that much, at least here in korea

My policy as a KW forum member is "don't ask, don't tell".

Ok, ok.

Failing that I propose:
  1. T-Shirt or bag tag idea, quite cool (Can it be done?, I would pay for one if is nice enough)
  2. Secret masonic handsake, or the "25 step high five"

Sheeet!, I need some JD....

Very easy I think, with the owners permission you could set up a cafe press and let it run from there.

TBH i feel kendoka need very little excuse to buy anything kendo related and I would happily advertise KW for free (and maybe sponsorship of the irish national team)

I think wearing a rubber glove on your head is the best way to go.

Failing that, Id love a jacket/T-shirt, stickers, or the fabulous aussie invention: the stubbie-holder (which make great wrist protectors if needed).

ie
"I paid for these bruises, thanks for asking"
"I trawl for trolls on KW"
"KW - because I like to hit men"

You'll be surprised, not everyone is keen on rubber.

Unless we are talking buttless chaps, of course

So KW staff, any chance of some merchandise available for purchase?

(perhaps even a butless rubber hakama)

It's quite funny that some of the peeps i've met at seminars, tai kai what have you have called me "Jo Duncan" and not just "Jo"

The advantage of using your own name is also a curse.... as these interweb virgins spot you easily!

Could this be the start of a rubber basque-style KW dou????? awwwww sheyat, i'd buy that for a dollar.

A Kendo World tsuka.

Acceptable and permitted by the rules, yet subtle.
.

Relatively cheap too.

I would wear a KW sticker on my head, under my men, but you'd have to get real close to read it ......then......... BAM! Meeeennnnnnnn..............

I would go for tshirt or bag tag. Stickers can be put anywhere by anyone.

Or in the same vein, a KW logo on the end of the sakigawa. While your opponent is wondering which geek you are, you can sneak in a quick men.

You could embroider "KW" on the crotch of your hakama, so when you sonkyo your opponent gets a flash of Kendo World.

You get the added bonus of enjoying the embaressment of people who try to ask you what it means!!

I'd do a t-shirt or a bag tag.

Hard to put a kamon on my dou since I don't have one, though Besides...I'd still rather put my family kamon on my saya/dou/whatever if I were to put anything.

beware of being approached.... I wore my roshukai t-shirt whilst in japan at an antique/militaria fair. Because the logo is in japanese everyone tried to read it! However I did get to meet up with an iaidoka from the club I was visiting that night, so it works both ways...
